We did our research online about all the hikes, but we always asked the local information desk or the hostel reception for any updates. We made a few stops on the way to Lake Tekapo, arriving around noon. We drove to the hostel to check in, and to ask about the hiking opportunities in the area. It took us longer to do the hike since we had sandwiches with us and we decided to have a picnic at the peak. We also took detours every now and then to search for the best viewpoint. Arrowtown’s architecture has not changed much since then. The beautiful houses and tree-lined streets that surround the town are reminiscent of the late 19th century gold rush era. When you reach Queenstown, save any adventures for the following day. Queenstown has so much to offer, we recommend spending two nights there. This will allow you to take advantage the many great restaurants in Queenstown. As one of the largest towns on the southern end of the South Island, Queenstown is a vibrant place. As well as the walkway there’s also a 40 metre tower with sublime views over the Tasman Sea and the Southern Alps.
