We did our research online about all the hikes, but we always asked the local information desk or the hostel reception for any updates. We made a few stops on the way to Lake Tekapo, arriving around noon. We drove to the hostel to check in, and to ask about the hiking opportunities in the area. It took us longer to do the hike since we had sandwiches with us and we decided to have a picnic at the peak. We also took detours every now and then to search for the best viewpoint. Arrowtown’s architecture has not changed much since then. The beautiful houses and tree-lined streets that surround the town are reminiscent of the late 19th century gold rush era.
